
Sally Wightkin is a member and a past-president of the Calligraphy
Guild of Pittsburgh whose original works have been exhibited and have
garnered various awards and recognitions throughout the greater Pittsburgh
area.
.She has been commissioned to create original work within the public and
private sectors and is in demand as a teacher of the fine art of Calligraphy.
She is currently one of the talented free-lance lettering artists with Printery
House, a Christian greeting card company. In addition to original one-of-a-kind
pieces, Sally has created literally thousands of envelopes, place cards, and
other calligraphic favors for weddings, Bar Mitzvahs, and other special occasions
over the past 20 years.
Sally has enhanced her artistry as a student of noted calligraphers Peter
Thornton, Timothy Botts, Sheila Waters, and Myrna Rosen, among others, and
recently concluded a year's course with the well-known practitioner of the
art, Reggie Ezell.
This past spring Sally finished her art teacher’s certification in
the state of Pennsylvania. In addition to teaching, she curates Gallery
Space at Monroeville Public Library where she organizes 12 exhibits a
year which include solo shows of local artists, group shows and annual shows
featuring the works of young artists from the Gateway
School District. She recently began a pilot program of artist demonstrations,
talks, and workshops open to the public which take place in Gallery Space.
Sally is married and the mother of two sons who, she states unequivocally,
are her greatest creations.
